An Indiana Antique Road Trip: Pendleton, Elwood & Marion

If you find yourself heading to a concert at Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, why not stay the night and turn your drive home into an antique shopping road trip?

That's exactly what we did! Instead of heading straight back to northern Indiana the next morning, we planned a route through Pendleton, Elwood, and Marion with plenty of antique treasure hunting along the way. Add in an amazing coffee shop and a few charming downtown stores, and you've got a fun girls' day out whether you're coming from a concert or simply looking for a new Indiana antique trail to explore.

Start with Coffee & Bagels in Pendleton

Start your morning at Sophie's Bagels in Pendleton.

This café serves delicious New York-style bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and an extensive coffee menu, but the space itself is what really won me over.

The beautiful open-air dining area is one of the prettiest places I've found for breakfast. Grab a bagel sandwich and your favorite coffee, find a spot to sit, and enjoy a slow start before a full day of antique hunting.

It's definitely worth the drive if you're in the area!

Explore Downtown Pendleton

After breakfast, leave your car parked and walk around downtown Pendleton.

Our antique stop was Burmeister's Old Towne Antiques, a small shop with a nice selection of vintage finds.

If you've followed along for a while, you know we love a big, multi-story antique mall where we can spend an hour or two digging for treasures. Burmeister's is much smaller and took us about 15 minutes to browse. We didn't find anything to bring home this time, but I'm still glad we stopped—especially since I've made it my goal to visit every antique store in Indiana!

While you're downtown, you can also browse B'Dazzled Boutique, Black Feather Studios, Mercantile in Pendleton, and The Rusty Hinge Boutique before continuing your road trip.

Find Unexpected Treasures in Elwood

From Pendleton, drive about 30 minutes north to Bittersweet Antiques in Elwood.

This one surprised us in the best way.

From the outside, it looks like a fairly small antique shop, but once you start exploring, it opens into room after room filled with treasures. There was much more to see than we expected, the prices were great, and all of us left with at least one or two finds.

These are exactly the kinds of antique stores I love discovering—unassuming from the outside with plenty of treasures waiting inside.

One practical thing to know: there isn't a public restroom, so plan accordingly. They were incredibly kind and let us use the employee restroom when one member of our group was having a bit of an emergency!

Save Plenty of Time for Jake's Antiques & Collectibles

Continue another 30 minutes north to Jake's Antiques & Collectibles in Marion.

If you're like us and love antique malls where you can settle in and hunt for a couple of hours, this is the stop you'll want to save plenty of time for.

Jake's is huge.

You'll find everything from small collectibles and vintage décor to larger furniture pieces, and we thought the prices were very reasonable. We easily could have spent two hours walking through all the booths.

The women working that day were also so much fun to talk with—friendly, helpful, and exactly the kind of people who make a good antique-shopping experience even better.

And for my fellow all-day antique shoppers: yes, there's a public restroom!

Grab Lunch & Head Home

By the time we finished at Jake's, we were exhausted, hungry, and ready to get home. Instead of adding another restaurant stop, we grabbed Zaxby's Chicken Fingers across the street and ate lunch on the road.

Nothing fancy this time—just chicken fingers, a car full of antique treasures, and happy hearts after a great concert and a full day of shopping.

Final Thoughts

If you love antique hunting, this route through Pendleton, Elwood, and Marion makes such a fun Indiana road trip.

You'll get a little bit of everything along the way: a beautiful coffee shop, a walkable small-town downtown, a surprisingly good hidden-gem antique store, and a huge antique mall where you can spend hours treasure hunting.

Whether you're heading home from a concert at Ruoff Music Center or simply looking for a new antique-shopping adventure, clear some space in your trunk and make a day of it.
