If you’re looking for a weekend getaway that mixes small-town charm with a little creative energy, Springfield and Yellow Springs make the perfect pair. Just a short drive from each other, these two towns offer a great balance—Springfield leans more classic and historic, while Yellow Springs brings a quirky, artsy vibe.
We planned this trip as another Rockhound weekend, and it ended up being one of those trips that felt both relaxing and full at the same time. Here’s exactly how to spend a perfect weekend between Springfield and Yellow Springs.
Where to Stay
Choose an Airbnb in or near Springfield to give you easy access to both towns. We stayed in a cozy home that gave us space to relax, play games, and continue one of our favorite traditions.
Each trip, we bring matching cardigans and iron on patches to represent where we’ve been—something that’s become such a fun and memorable part of our weekends. If you’re going with friends, I highly recommend starting your own version of this tradition. Put on some music, mix up a drink, and make a night of it.
Thursday Evening
Arrive Thursday evening and keep things simple. Grab dinner at a local pizza spot on your way in, then head to your Airbnb to settle in.
We spent the night relaxing, unpacking, and working on our Rockhound cardigans. It was the perfect low-key start to the weekend—and we ended up getting so many compliments from locals when we wore them out the next day.
Friday in Springfield
Start your morning slowly with coffee at the house, then head out around 9:00 to begin exploring.
Breakfast at Ironworks Waffle Café (located inside COhatch The Market) is a must. The waffle breakfast sandwiches were so good, and they had some really unique latte flavors.
After breakfast, stop by Champion City Guide & Supply (the Visitor Center) to grab brochures or get recommendations before heading out for the day.
Next, make your way to the Heart of Ohio Antique Center, which is a must if you love vintage finds and thrifting. You could easily spend hours here hunting for treasures.
After a full morning of shopping, treat yourself to something sweet at Le Torte Dolci, then walk down the block to snap a photo at the “Greetings from Springfield” mural.
Before lunch, pop into Firefly Boutique for jewelry and clothing. Then head to Hi Hat Social for lunch—grab a cocktail and a few apps and enjoy the atmosphere. With record player music playing in the background, it’s a whole vibe.
After a full day, head back to your Airbnb for a relaxing night in. For us, that meant snacks, games, and unwinding after a day of exploring.
